I am a journalist, editor and media professional with seven years experience in both traditional and non-traditional media, strategy and planning, and Web site content.
I was born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. When I was still an infant, my family moved to Fort Rucker, Alabama, where my father was a flight instructor of fixed wing and helo aircraft (airplanes and helicopters). My mother was an art teacher.
I graduated Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science magna cum laude, and moved to Boston, drawn by my strong interest in the city’s history and music scene. I lived there two years, taking classes in writing, Constitutional Law and Philosophy at Simmons College, a women’s college steps from Fenway Park. Living so close to Fenway Park, I found the fervah of ball games infectious. Go Red Sawx!
I love to travel and I’ve stayed in hostels in the U.S., Canada, Italy, Monoco and France. If I’m not traveling, there are few places I’d rather be than in my kitchen. I collect vintage cast iron and copper cookware. Whenever possible, I travel to New York City and Toronto to take cooking classes.
I am a songwriter and musician and a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). I began teaching a writing workshop that I developed in September 2009. My poems have appeared in numerous literary journals. Some of them include:
